FAQ’s

We understand coming to a new place for the first time can be intimidating. We’ve tried to address many of the questions first time guests have on this page. Let us know if you have other questions we can answer.

Where do my kids go?

We are a multi-generational congregation and enjoy having family units worship together.

Is Family of Faith affiliated with any denomination?

Family of Faith is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod.  The LCMS is a denomination with over 6,000 congregations in the US, along with missions and partnerships with other churches around the globe.

Do you offer communion?

We celebrate communion (also known as the Lord’s Supper) each Sunday.  We believe God gives us Jesus’ body and blood which is miraculously present in the bread and wine for the forgiveness of our sins.  In communion, God forgives us and gives us the strength to continue to become more like Jesus.

What do you believe about baptism?

When Jesus returned to heaven he shared these words with his followers, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20 ESV).

We believe baptism is integral to becoming a follower of Jesus and that Jesus wants all people to become his followers.  We don’t believe God places an age limitation on baptism and gladly baptize infants through senior citizens.

How do I get connected?

Come join us for Bible study and worship, and stick around for our fellowship time so we can get to know each other better.

What happens during the service?

Our worship service is simultaneously traditional and contemporary.  It is traditional in that it is rooted in the historic liturgy of the Christian church.  It is contemporary in that the service is built around the theme of the day, so you aren’t saying the same words week in and week out.  We celebrate communion every week and sing both traditional hymns and more modern worship songs.

What do you believe about Giving and Tithing?

We believe that everything we have is a gift from God.  This includes our lives, health, family, friends, jobs, homes, etc.  This also includes our finances, our time, and our abilities and talents.  We believe that the offering is an act of worship where we return to God some of what he has first given us to be used for mission and ministry.

Where are the bathrooms?

You will find our bathrooms in the East wing which also has our kitchen and fellowship area.

What should I wear?

In a word, clothing.  Beyond that, we want you to be comfortable and know that God welcomes you as you are.  On a given Sunday, you will see some people in jeans and flannel and others in a dress or suit and tie.
